American Pure Land is an autonomous branch of Buddhism, founded in the U.S.A. in 2023. This denomination is an international fellowship of adult practitioners in suburban, metropolitan and cosmopolitan communities.
We are not working for, representatives of, or indebted to a sectarian religious institution. We are not vulnerable to charges of religious heresy.
Each church planted by this denomination has 4 missions:

4. Outward-Facing Mission.
The Ultimate Mission of the American Pure Land denomination is derivative of Siddhartha Gautama buddha’s.
We aspire to help all others move toward enlightenment during their lifetime.
The Conventional Mission of the denomination is to cultivate peace within ourselves, our community, state, and nation.
Peace is cultivated in society at the local level, by grassroots activism intent on improving the well-being of the local community through the remediation of ill-will.

The Conventional Mission of the denomination is to cultivate peace within ourselves, our community, state, and nation.
Peace is cultivated in society at the local level, by grassroots activism intent on improving the well-being of the local community through the remediation of ill-will.
The Conventional Mission is accomplished by planting churches, where each church is a conjunction of a site-specific Outward-Facing Mission that accords with the Ultimate, Conventional, and Inward-Facing Missions of the denomination.
The goal of our Inward-Facing Mission is to help all others move toward enlightenment by application of these skillful means:
· The transmission of Dharma;
· Participating in Church Rituals;
· Engaging in Liberation Practices:
o Peace Making;
o Generosity;
o The 8 Path Factors;
o The 12 Precepts;
o Pure Land Meditations, and
o Pratitya-Samutpada.
Though the Inward-Facing Mission might be the consciousness of the church, the Outward-Facing Mission is its living body. Without a healthy, vibrant, living body the consciousness of the church is extinguished.
The goal of our Outward-Facing Mission is to create a pure land in the community where each church is planted.

A pure land is an egalitarian utopia. It is not separate from the real world. It is not an otherworldly realm. A pure land is not a mythological paradise somewhere way out west.
Instead, a pure land is an inspirational model that suggests the vulnerability to change intrinsic to social, economic, political, and violence regimes. Those regimes can be different and better than each is at present.
Ordinary people in fellowship can and do change the real world for the betterment of the many. That hope filled vision gives ordinary people something to look forward to in the future as well as help focus today’s labors.

Religion is both a matter of belief as well as ritual, where religious ritual provides a direct channel to religious truths that are the fountainhead of religious beliefs.
A wholehearted and single-minded practice of a church ritual gives birth to joy, bliss, and peace that you can experience for yourself.
The ultimate function of church rituals is to help all others move forward toward enlightenment in their lifetime. The conventional function of church rituals is to help all others experience joy, bliss, and peace
Core to the church’s mission – it’s in our DNA - are the rituals conducted by church members for the benefit of all others:
· The Peace Service;
· Precepts Initiation;
· Both Silent as well as Audible Pure Land Meditations;
· Weddings;
· Funeral Rites, and
· Raising a Joyful Sound.
